Totally.

But alas, April 22 is the official Earth Day. A chance to reflect on how you treat our planet and what we can do to be kinder to Mother Nature. I'm a HUGE believer in recycling. EVERYTHING THAT I CAN RECYCLE, I DO RECYCLE. My use of CAPS LOCKS should indicate how serious I am on the matter.

That being said, I'm always interested in learning other ways to be more environmentally efficient. I planted my first vegetable garden a couple years ago and LOVED IT (again with the caps locks!!). Nothing connects you to the planet more than getting your hands dirty and growing life. Which made me think of my Nonna. She's a huge gardening enthusiast, who grows flowers/vegetables like nobody's business. So what's her secret to such a happy and healthy garden? She talks to her plants. Naturally.

If you were one of many stuck on the Malahat with that fuel truck spill, did you hear about the opportunity to get reimbursed for “legitimate expenses” during the wait?

The Malahat was closed down for almost 24 hours from Saturday to Sunday, putting a LOT of people out. Sooo, Columbia Fuels have hired a third party to look at each situation and assess how much money you should receive for the inconvenience you were caused.

I'm not entirely sure how this will work and how they'll decide how much money you should get back versus me...but it's a step in the right direction at least. Imagine how much money a mechanic would get reimbursed if they were caught in the hold-up for the whole 22 hours?!?! Or a LAWYER! Wowzer.

Nonna the Bum-Pinching Bandit

Congrats to Tammy. She won tickets to see Tiesto at the Save-on Foods Memorial Centre May 1st. She's going to take her 13 year old daughter to the concert. Cute!

That made me think of going to a concert with my mom when I was that age. Tammy said she's still considered "cool" to her daughter, and that it's her husband that's the embarrassing one. There's always one parent who's more awkward than the other when you're around that age.

For me it wasn't so much my parents compared to my Nonna. She used to* pinch my bum all the time. In public.

*who am I kidding? She still does, it's just not as embarrassing anymore.
