How many friends do YOU have?

This is kind of funny.

How many friends do you have on Facebook? I'm certainly not going to delete my account, but it did make me cut some "friends". He's right...who really has 852 friends??

Do the Elaine!

Happy Birthday to Julia Louis-Dreyfus!

50 has never looked so good! I wonder if she's still able to move like this?

Coming Soon: TARGET

Big news this morning that TARGET has struck a deal with Hudson Bay Co. and bought out all the ZELLERS and plan to replace them with the American counterpart, TARGET.
The deal was 1.8 BILLION DOLLARS to replace all 220 ZELLERS with around 100-150 TARGET locations throughout the country.

What do you think of the change-over? On one hand, I think it's a good thing and with it will come some exciting changes, but on the other hand it totally sucks to lose a totally CANADIAN business.

Thoughts?

Way to go, Sarah Tradewell!!

She's latest internet phenomenon, out of Victoria. Sarah is a violinist who studies music at UVic and who also spent last summer busking at the Inner Harbor.

And now, she's one of 5 Canadians who was chosen to participate in YouTube's Symphony Orchestra. She'll be sent off to Sydney, Australia to perform at the Opera House for a bunch of concerts in March.

She sure puts my triangle skills to shame in her audition video. Thanks a lot, Sarah. And CONGRATS!

I'm in the process of writing a "FOR SALE" ad for my boyfriend's house in Alberta. He's trying to sell it so he can move out to Victoria and join me in paradise. That's great news. The sad news is the actual selling of the house. I do want it to sell, and I know it's what needs to be done, but it's still an emotional thing.

(NOTE: the above picture is not us. We don't have kids. That I'm aware of.)

As I sit here recounting all the amazing features to include in the ad, it's a total trip down memory lane and I'm sad at the idea of seeing this house sell. I lived there for 2 years myself, and as a couple we made a lot of wonderful memories. Plus all the family and friends who came over to enjoy it with us.

When writing about the sundecks, I think of all our summer BBQ's we had, talking about the garden makes me remember the first year I planted a veggie garden and had an overabundance of zucchinis I had to pawn off to co-workers, then there's the kitchen where I burnt many a meal, and everything in between.

Also, to be honest, the idea of having anyone else live there really doesn't sit well with me. I don't want them changing anything about the house or making memories where we once did.

So how's this for an ad...

"Beautiful home on the river for sale. But you can’t change anything about it and don’t even think about loving it as much as we do, because you never will. Do not have fun in this house. Buyer must also leave at any given time, whenever we want to come back for a visit."

That being said, are you interested??

Uh Oh...

Tell me this isn't true!

Have you ever been creeping on someone's Facebook who you're not friends with (and don't lie, you do it, too), only to find on their Wall an application that says something along the lines of "I can now see who is stalking my profile with this new ap I just downloaded."?

Sh*t!!!!
It was then that I quickly X'd out of the window and disconnected from the internet all together. As if that would undo my Facebook Creeping.

So this week I asked the question, is it for real? Can it really track who is stalking you?

Thank goodness the answer is NO. According to one caller, the only way it works is if you and the other person have BOTH downloaded it. So if you're a creeping Facebook stalker, and your stalkee has it, but you don't, then the application will NOT catch you on the radar. She went on to say it may not even work if the two of you aren't even friends at all. Make sense?

Bottom line, if you want to keep your day job as a creeper, don't download the application.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to checking out your Wall. Yes, I'm stalking you, too.

THE Find of 2011

I don't know WHY ON EARTH this took me so long to discover, but alas, I'm hooked. Groupon. Easily the best thing since...velcro. Ya. THAT BIG.

It's the fastest growing online company, with over 150 markets serviced and over 44, 000 members from Victoria alone. And I'm the latest to join. And not only to join, but to spend. My first purchase was an $80 gift card I paid $40 for! Half off!! And it certainly doesn't end there. The website provides a daily Groupon, with savings from 50-90% of great local businesses.

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical at first. After all, how could businesses afford to offer such huge discounts. And then it hit me. There I was, new to the website, and I made my first purchase. And after confirming it was for real, I was sooo excited to check back for the next Groupon. I'm hooked. And that, my friends, is how they maintain their business.

I don't even wear glasses, but I may very well buy a Groupon for an eye place...how can you say no to those kinds of savings?!?

Oh crap...
